ontario teachers overpaid

My comments are not rectal plucks but personal observations. So Sun columnist Christina Blizzard got her hands on a list of "Professional Development" activities that teachers in the Durham region on Ontario got to choose from in their upcoming PD Day. A teacher earning $75,000 in 2012 will contribute $8,498 to her pension plan, while a teacher earning $51,000 will contribute $5,522 to his pension.Teachers are eligible to retire with a full pension at age 65 or when their years of work plus their age equals 85.Teachers receive a pension based on their years of service and their best five years' average salary. I doubt this is true, because if she gets caught she can get fired, even just  a pattern of missing pd days could get a teacher released. Our students are learning from people who display bad work ethic- what a great gift they leave the parents to deal with. The true cost of the PD days is on the parents and kids as the teachers live in a sheltered ( protected by their union) dream world
This is not to mention all the other perks like COMMENTARY: A new study by the Heritage Foundation found that, contrary to conventional wisdom, teachers are actually overpaid when … Teachers should start to be fired- if they think full-time work is beneath them- apparently the newer ones want their jobs and are eager to work It's a hard job, I'm sure you appreciate that. For example, small companies who don't have deep pockets pay into a benefits plan that provides the base level package of coverage. And they constantly go on strikes for higher payments and fail to negotiate with the Government.Sometimes teachers speaks negatively about the ON. Yes, teachers in Ontario are paid very well. There are lots of hard jobs-that is so condescending-( eg my job is harder than yours) if it so hard then why not dismantle the union and allow open hiring( freemarket) .If someone needs to be sacked- just like in the real workforce-it gets done. You need to take that into consideration of the actual job the fact that they have often woke up to check supply lists for years and years at 6 in the morning or whatnot to see if they have work that day as a teacher.People tend to concentrate on the end result of years of dedication to the profession that gives next to no rewards. It makes a lot of sense to rotate these days rotating tenured administrators and bring in substitute teachers on these days. You know teachers are doing more than teaching course materials but being adult role models to students. Someone job searching should keep that in mind. Now, what you see on paper is not the same at home. With tens of millions of dollars freed up, school boards would no longer have to resort to selling surplus property or other fiscal gimmicks to keep the lights on; children might even no longer need to work at desks of Diefenbaker vintage. It's a hard job, I'm sure you appreciate that. A lower salary in exchange for generous benefits and pension package is both fair and economically sensible. She is now making $40 more than me per pay period.People working in the private sector are jealous because they might not be able to take vacations when they want. Simply put, teachers in the province are overpaid; the work is not that onerous nor specialized and the hours not too taxing. One already hears the howls of indignation from the unions at that claim. PD days are a farce in most cases. Sometimes you can spot them on the golf course or ski hill.My friend always sneaks out at 1pm, or "works from home" to work on report cards. TORONTO — Some Ontario parents have received up to four times more money than they were supposed to be paid under a government plan to compensate them for elementary teachers’ strike days. Within each pay scale there are four groups, which are based on teachers' education and extra training, as well as years of experience. For all the complaints over class size, funding for equipment and a lack of education assistants, teachers seem blithely content to ignore the role their generous salaries play in those problems. The numbers speak for themselves.
It’s one profession where location doesn’t change the pay that much but the living cost certainly can.at this point in most places in Ontario $50,000/year is shit.New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be castA subreddit to discuss all the news and events taking place in the province of Ontario, Canada.Press J to jump to the feed. They think it is normal to work only from 8ish to 4 and receive full-time pay- as they await their 3 day weekend every other week. It's theirs, to begin with, that they worked for during the school year but it's doled out over a period of time. It's not quite true because my wife starts to go back to work a week and a half before the school year to prep her class, clean it out, research for new lessons, and more. In Atlantic City teachers average 94k  a year.
